Thinking ahead to the Christmas season, I was contemplating what to give friends and neighbors.  I thought it would be nice to get some flour sack kitchen towels and do some holiday embroidery on them.  They could be used to wrap food gifts or to give two or four as a gift alone. After finding them online (www.acshomeandwork.com),   They were $2.10 for the smallest size,  16″ x 24″.  I found some designs from Michie’ Mooney’s Heirloom Embroidery and a couple on the internet.  The towels are larger than I anticipated so some of the designs were enlarged or repeated.  The snowmen were the most difficult because of doing the white on off-white fabric.  If you decide to do that, I recommend sitting near a window with lots of natural light and use a magnifier so you won’t strain your eyes.  The towels are not perfect by any means but I think they are cute and will add a little cheer to whatever is wrapped up in them!
